Design to sell

A   Good Design Is A Good Business
When buying a house and looking at houses you usually see them clean and organized so it's easier to walk in and look around to sees if the house intrests you in anyway.

Background knowledge and staging a home
  1.  you need to make sure your house is clean when people are looking at your house.
  2. If people can't see the square footage, People won't buy the house.
  3. when people are coming to look at your home is has to be clean can't be clutered
  4. you  need to put every toy away if you have children
  5. have a lot of space for people tp walk around
  6. make smaller spaces bigger
  7. make spaces smaller if needed.

Example: of organized and clean rooms

Example of the inside of a house

 Closing:

So if you want to have a nice and clean house you should clean it.  Clean it for when people want to look around at the clean and organized spaces. when people are looking at your houses you always want to make it look like there is a lot of space to move around in.

Kitchen design

This is a design of the kitchen I designed for Rachael, who lives in the suburbs who needed a bigger kitchen.  She  wanted this kind of kitchen for a while where she could do so much more while cooking because she has a bigger space to move around in.

The kind of kitchen I had was an L shaped kitchen.  Having an L shaped kitchen is easier to get around while cooking.

Harmony

           design challenge
                                                        Harmony
The objects I chose to use for the theme was different shades of purple and little hint of pink.  The different textures I used was soft, silky, and fuzzy.  You can tell just by looking at the pillow on the couch/ bed that they're both fuzzy and soft.  and the curtain on the door is a silky door curtain.  Also the waste basket is rough and has lines on the outside.  There is also some vertical lines on the door curtain.  You can see that there is horizontal line in the couch/bed and the table has vertical lines.  with all the different textures, I believe it brings out the room with all the different purples the go well together.

Proportion and scale

     design challenge
                                                     Design challenge

For the poor proportion I chose to use the table thats in the middle of the room to show where there isn't much room for people to walk thats where bad scaling comes in to place.  I also mad the laundry basket bigger to block the door a bit and the seat near the door is blocking a part of the door.  near the window I there is a zebra print that isn't even with the wall so that represents bad proportion.  Also the bed should be a little bigger than all the other things in the room.

Design challenge

rhythm

  Rhythm

Repetition
For repetition I used two of the same pictures up above the bed.  I chose those pictures because it goes with the bedroom design it has browns in the picture which goes good with bedding as well.

Radiation
For radiation I chose a pillow thats sitting on the bed.  It shows where the cener starts then starts to go outward to fill the middle of the pillow.

Gradation

For gradiation I chose the little and big vase so you can tell the difference between the to.  The vases also go good with  the color and designs of the bedroom.

Dentists waiting room

element of design
Element of design: Exam
Space
The space in the room makes it so the room appears bigger.  With the way that the furniture is arranged there is more walking space for people.   It helps that there are all sorts of colors to brighten up the spaces in the room.  The furniture also makes the room stand out with the grays, pinks, and whites that makes the room a great color scheme.
Line
The lines in the room show  a lot of  vertical, horizontal, and some diagonal lines.  You can definitely tell where  the vertical lines appear in the room on the window up on top of the stairs.  The horizontal lines appear to show on the stairs walking up them and on the entrance windows. The diagonal lines appear to show on the entrance ceiling.
Form
I like how the room has a lot of  cube like forms.  I chose many objects that resemble the shape of a square.  It makes the room appear more classic.
Texture
With the floor being smooth I wanted to add furniture with obvious  patterns to show roughness in the fabrics.  I think it turned out well with the different pieces I chose.
Reflection
It wouldn't  be a bad waiting room to wait in with it being so spacious.  I like how the room has many different seating option for people to feel comfortable.  The neutral  colors painted on the wall keeps you calm while waiting at the dentist.

Element of Design
   Element of Design
I chose these elements to show how they relate to the different kinds of textures.  For the Visual textures is the yellow couch, tan chair, dog pillow, and the tan and white pillow.  The Tactile textures is the furry rug, coffee table, flowers, and the tree picture.  The Audible textures is the t.v, black phone, gold lamp, and the silver chandelier that hangs above the couch.
Texture give the effect of having things in a room to be larger than what it actually appears to be.  the textural pattern can be balanced as the couch and the tan chair.  also it makes a lot of things stand out to make it more noticeable  to the naked eye.  It's what people first notice when entering a room.

I believe everything that I chose for the requirements of  different kinds of textures.  I thought  the the textures went well with what I chose to put in the room.  you can tell where the different kinds of  textures  play their part in the room especially the chandelier it's shiny.  So overall  I believe I like how the room turned out with the different textures.  Also making them go well together with the different colors and designs that I put together in the room to make it work and look nice.

Elements of Design

polpo
Curved Lines
I chose this certain picture because it brings out the curves that are in the room up on the wall up top. you can  really tell where the curves are it makes an effect on the room on how it stands out more that it had just a few curves in the room. the feeling of the curve catches your eye as you enter any room. usually it's the first thing that you see when entering a room when the  room has something to do with curves.

LIVING GREEN
Vertical  Lines

I chose this certain picture because it shows where all the vertical lines are that are in the room. the lines are on the back window, the table legs, and the vase with the plants. the effect a line has for vertical is it adds height, dignity, creating a more formal atmosphere  It helps with the furniture that people pick out to for the rooms in their homes. The feelings of vertical lines brings excitement to the decor in a game room, or any room. If you have too many lines in any room it can carry the effect to an extreme so it's better to have just some lines in a room.

Rooftop Living
    Diagonal Lines
I chose this certain picture because it shows a lot of the diagonal lines on the top of the roof. also it shows the lines on the floor boards. The effect of diagonal lines attract the eyes right way the lines are like on the floor and roof tops. The cab also be disturbing unless you have different kinds of lines as well as the diagonals.
  Summer Dining
 Horizontal Lines
I chose this certain picture because I thought it showed a lot of horizontal lines on the cupboards. They're also on the back walls.  They also show vertical lines that are on the cupboards as well. Horizontal lines  tend to create a restful, informal feeling. They work well in casual rooms same with vertical lines.

                                   Color forecast
 2013 color forecast
I read an article that talked about color forecasts and by reading the article I learned that a color forecast is what the new trend is for the next year. what people are wearing and what colors do they have in their houses. usually what inspires them is the decorations that make a home what it is and the colors that they pick for their homes. The economy effects the way they do things with designs or the colors they choose.
The colors for this year are greens, blues, violets, oranges, and browns. they chose theses certain colors, they wanted colors to pop to stick out more so they used greens, blues, violets. and they also wanted some nutral colors to so they added brown, brown i a good nutral color.
My olioboard fits into the color forecast trends because I added  colors like greens, purples, and blues to make my olioboard stand out more and to make it more organized.
the color scheme that we used in class was yellow different types of yellows for an example yellows like mac and cheese.
I believe  I made my oloioboard stand out  with all of the color that I have used to make it organized. I also didn't add to much so thta it would't look so crowded. I believe i did good creating the color forecast.

Color Schemes

analogous color

Analogous
the analogouscolors on the colorwheel are colors next to each other. For the analogous color scheme I used yellows and oranges.I like how the living room turned out with all of the different color schemes.

Complementary
complementary

Complementary colors are colors across from each other. I used reds and greens to create the complementary office.I believe the office turned out neat and simple with the colors that were used.                     Monochromatic
monocromatic color

Monchromatic on the colorwheel are colors with different shades of the color you used. I used purple so i had t fine different shades of purple. This color scheme is my favorite because purple is my favorite color.
                   Triadic
triadic color

Triadic colors on the colorwheel are 3 colors in between each one.sense I picked purple I had to count evey three and that color was orange, then I counted every three again, which was green. so for the living room I used triadic color which were purple, green, and orange. I believe I made the colors go together.
